Tour overview

The distance to cape Sounio is about 65 Km and in every few minutes, the horizon changes dramatically. The deep blue sea, the beauty of the colorful nature, the smooth breeze and the picturesque fisher-villages, make the journey, pleasant and memorable. The first stop is at Faliroreplica of the ancient Athenian battleship: the trireme, and the apostle Paul arrival monument. There are also several Olympic sport events venues and stadiums. Short stops to see the Vouliagmeni lake, Varkiza and some point of exceptional views, and after we arrive to cape Sounio to see the elegant temple of Poseidon overlooking the Aegean Sea, with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in Greece. Explore the ancient ruins of this ever fortified citadel and temple dedicated to the Greek mighty god Poseidon, the ruler of the seas.

The cape Sounio, is the southern-most European mainland point and known for the ancient silver-mines and mineral quarries. There is also a minerals museum in Lavrion, the nearby city, and 6 Km further the famous ancient city of Thoricos. In the hills around, are about 220 ancient mines and remains. The reconstructed-restored ancient theater by the sea, is one of a kind! You may choose for the afternoon tour, in order to catch the famously beautiful and dazzling sunset of cape Sounio.

What to expect

Pickup at the hotel/address or your location, of stay. You will be informed about the tour-details and the driver will drive you in safety and comfort, heading to south. Also you will be asked, for your preferences and choices. The tour is private or sometimes semi-private (small group) and the schedule flexible. The tour will be carried in air-conditioned sedan, or VAN, or mini-bus, vehicle. There will be several pictures stops, with the necessary commentary of the attractions. Strolling up to UNESCO-listed world heritage cape Sounio sight, on foot, you will see spectacular and breathtaking views. Lunch in the sea-side is highly recommended. Swim is also optional choice.
