While traveling, you will admire the wonderful nature of inland Greece, picturesque villages, historic cities and the most important ancient cult center, and the unique location of the Meteora monasteries of the Christian Orthodox. This tour combines a pleasant journey in the colorful landscapes of Greece, and the visit of world heritage UNESCO monuments: Delphi and Meteora.

What to expect

The qualified driver-guide will meet you at your Athens hotel, in the morning, and will take you in safety and comfort at the tour destinations. The first day will be spend at Delphi. One of the oldest sanctuary and cult center of ancient Greece. Exploring the magnificent sites, monuments and the museum. We will depart in the afternoon heading to Meteora (night-stay). The second day we will make the tour of all of the monasteries and visit 3 of them. The itinerary is flexible and the tour-program here under is the suggested one.

Day 1

The 2 day private tour starts from Athens and your driver-guide will take you to Delphi, through Thiva, Levadia. You will enjoy the breathtaking views and take pictures at Arahova village. Next is the ancient site of Delphi and you will see the major attractions of the mythical-mysterious oracle. In the Delphi museum you will discover the treasures of the ancient cult-center, secrets of the oracle-ruins, famous for its theater, and of-course the majestic remains of the temple of Apollo. Drive to Meteora and night-stay at Kalampaka.

Day 2

After breakfast we will make the tour of all of the monasteries, enjoying the amazing mountain views and unique nature of Meteora. The rocks formation, was created some 60 million years ago, when all the plain of Thessaly was a huge lake. Visit some of the monasteries, including the Varlaam, the Holy Trinity and Great Meteoron (officially: Transfiguration) the largest of monasteries. Perched on high cliffs, and accessible by rock-cut stairs, in the monasteries will allow you a close-up experience of the hermetic life of the monks and nuns. In the afternoon you will have the chance to try some of the best local traditional dishes and wine. We will head to Athens driving through the cities of Trikala, Karditsa, Lamia and Thiva.
