Tour overview

In this 4-hrs morning or afternoon private Athens sightseeing tour, you will indulge in the secrets of the great classic civilization. The experience and knowledgeable driver-guide, will give you a tour at top Athens sights, including the Greek Parliament and Panathenaic stadium, stage of the first modern Olympic games, Hadrian's Arch, Zeus temple, Plaka, Agora, Thisseion. Enjoy the fantastic sight of the marble Panathenaic stadium, with it's brilliant architecture that can accommodate almost 70 thousand spectators. The Parliament house and the change of the Evzones Guard, is a very impressive attraction. The Hadrian's Arch and just beside, the glorious Zeus temple colonnade remains.

Then, explore the mighty Acropolis hill on foot to see the master-peace of architecture, and symbol of Democracy: the Parthenon and other highlights, like the Dionysus theater and the Herodeion amphitheater, that still is used for ancient classic tragedies and comedies. Stroll around the Plaka and the Syntagma area, the national gardens and the picturesque streets of Plaka. Admire the statues of the most prominent, world famous Athenians: Plato and Socrates in front of the classic Ionic order building the Academy of Athens. If you want to add more sightseeing in Athens highly recommended is the Lycavittos hill, rising 320 meters high, right in the middle of Athens center. The panoramic view from the Lycavitos is breathtaking. You may also upgrade your half-day (4hrs) morning tour to a full-day (7 hrs) version, to include Lycabettus hill and the new Acropolis Museum.

What to expect

Your driver-guide will wait for you at the hotel/address or location, in central Athens, to meet and greet you, with a friendly smile , and inform you about the tour-details. Also you will be asked, for your preferences and about your specific interests. You will hear insightful commentary of all the places of interest. The Parliament, change of the Evzones Guards and Presidential Palace. See the fabulous Panathenaic Olympic Stadium, the original venue of the first Olympic games in 1896. The Panepistimiou street to snap more photos of the Academy of Athens. Also the old Russian Orthodox Church, the Anglican pastoral cathedral and the Evangelic church next.

In the walking part of the tour, you will see the Dionysus and the Herodeion theaters, then go to the top of the hill-top of the Acropolis. Admire the magnificent Parthenon, and see phenomenal monuments: the Erechteion, the Caryatids, the Propylaea gateway and the amazing temple of Athena Nike, the goddess of Victory. The temple of Olympian Zeus - is a gigantic, semi-ruined, survived all kind of disasters, wars, earthquakes. There will be some photos shooting short stops, at the most convenient spots and famous sites.

You will hear the important information and details of the attractions in advance, and in prior, so you will have time to explore all of the sites independently, on your own, and no rush. To complete the Athens tour, the Lycabettus hill is a must. It is highly recommended, in the long tour-version.
