What to expect

The driver-guide will inform you about the tour-details and take you in safety and comfort at the tour destinations. You will visit Corinth as first, the breathtaking view of the canal and the Saint Paul biblical city, in Argolis, at the famous attractions, like Epidaurus. The Asklepeios medical cult center with it's most significant theater of ancient Greece and at the prehistoric citadel of Golden Mycenae. The fascinating castle-city of Mystras, legendary Sparta and Taygetos mount. You will see the magnificent and elegant Olympia, drive over the spectacular Rio hanging bridge, Itea, Galaxidi and Delphi. Thermopylae battlefield, Lamia city and Meteora. You will explore several spectacular sites, monuments and museums. The itinerary is flexible and the tour-program here-under, is the suggested-one.

Day 1

Depart from Athens. Your driver-guide will take you to Corinth canal for the first stop. You will enjoy the amazing views and take pictures. At ancient Corinth, where you will see the archaic Apollo Temple, the Bema of Apostle Paul, the ancient Amphitheater etc. Next stop will be at Epidaurus, the medical center of the ancient world, and the splendid ancient theater with it's phenomenal acoustics. After the prehistoric castle of Tiryns, you will explore Mycenae, the legendary Homeric citadel Acropolis and the king Atreas tomb. Dinner and night-stay at Nafplio.

Day 2

After breakfast we will drive to Arcadia region and arrive in Mystras, the Byzantine castle-city, and in Sparta. you will see the few remains of the legendary city of the warriors. Heading to west coast of Peloponnese, we will arrive in Olympia. Lunch and visit the archaeological site and museum, the Zeus temple, stadium, Herod's fountain, Philipeion, Palaistra, Gymnasion and more. You will hear the insightful commentary of your driver-guide in prior, and you can independently stroll around the attractions at your own pace and rush-free. The visit of the Olympia museum is a unique experience. You will admire some of the worlds best art, like the statues of Nike made by Paionios, goddess of Victory, that still decorates one side of the Olympic winners medals, the Hermes statue, work of the Athenian sculptor Praxitelis. Dinner and night stay in Olympia village.

Day 3

Breakfast and depart from Olympia, back to mainland, you will be impressed from the wonderful view and the size of the cable bridge at Rio - Antirio. You will visit the historic cities of Nafpaktos and Galaxidi. Arrive in Delphi check-in at the hotel and stroll in the picturesque village, with it's hundreds of shops and restaurants. The contemporary village of Delphi, is created in the beginning of the excavations, and the had to evacuate the location of the ancient site. In 1870 after catastrophic earthquake the Greek government have decided to expropriate the Delphi site, and shift-of the people, mostly breeders, who lived on the archaeological site. The French archeology school of Athens did the first excavation works in 1892. The views of the olives valley and the mountains is exceptional. You will enjoy a local delicacies traditional dinner in a restaurant. Night-stay in Delphi village.

Day 4

Breakfast and visit to Delphi archaeological site, a comprehensive commentary from your driver guide, will inform you about the myths, history and legends of the Delphi, attractions and the oracle, you will walk independently around the attractions and take pictures. You will see the cult-site, the Apollo temple, the theater, the treasures that ever were stuffed with precious items, the stadium. The holy Castalia spring is nearby and across at o lower level the ruins of the Tholos and Athena Pronaia temple. In the Delphi museum you will see the brilliant artifacts of the ancient cult, like the bronze statue of the Charioteer, the archaic statues of twins Cleovis and Veeton, the Naxian Sphinx, Antinoos and more. After a delicious local food lunch, we depart from Delphi, heading north. We pass the beautiful mountains Parnassus and Giona, we arrive at the famous historic battlefield of Thermopylae, known from the 300 heroic Spartans. Stop at the last-stand hill Kronion and take pictures at the king Leonidas memorial statue. Through the cities of Lamia, Karditsa and Trikala, we arrive at Meteora. Dinner and night-stay.

Day 5

After breakfast, we will tour-around of all of the monasteries, enjoying the amazing views and unique nature of Meteora. The rocks formation was created 60 million years ago, since all the Thessaly was a big lake. You will visit some of the monasteries, including the Varlaam, the Holy Trinity and Great Meteoron (officially: Transfiguration) the biggest-one of monasteries. Perched on high cliffs, and accessible by rock-cut stairs, in the monasteries will allow you a close-up experience of the hermetic life of the monks and nuns. Several picture-stops at the best spots, will give you excellent views and photo shooting opportunity. In the afternoon you will have the chance to try some of the best local traditional dishes and wine. Not to miss! We will head to Athens, driving through the cities of Trikala, Karditsa, Lamia and Thiva.Return and detour in Athens center or your address of stay.
